Thanks for the addition! I have made the correction in the article that only the exponentially distributed waiting time of the Poisson Process is memoryless. The horse kicks story is quite interesting and seems to be the application that made the Poisson process well-known. It just goes to show having a useful stats technique is not enough, it needs to be able to solve real-world problems.
